The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to;
- conduct a limited guided experience as a junior horse-guide
- practice as a backup guide and assistant in a horse trail safari operation
On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
- Ride a horse at an intermediate skill level
- Handle a group of horses from the ground in a safe, controlled and sympathetic manner
- Show a basic understanding of horse care
- Assist with basic horse yard and equipment management
- Assist clients in mounting and dismounting
- Ride as a backup guide on trails

Three week course
