Conduct a limited horse-guided experience

The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to;

    1. conduct a limited guided experience as a junior horse-guide
    2. practice as a backup guide and assistant in a horse trail safari operation 

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:

    1. Ride a horse at an intermediate skill level
    2. Handle a group of horses from the ground in a safe, controlled and sympathetic manner
    3. Show a basic understanding of horse care
    4. Assist with basic horse yard and equipment management
    5. Assist clients in mounting and dismounting
    6. Ride as a backup guide on trails

Learning assumed to be in place:

    1. Literacy, numeracy and communication

Course duration:
               Three week course                                                                                                            

Included:

    1. Accommodation
